The Alexandria
This table has what is known in our factory as the Jumbo frame work which means that it is unusually heavy and substantial. The upper part of the side and end sections of the body are 7 7/8" thick by 15 1/2", tapering to 1 3/4" thick at the bottom. The ornamental blocks have a projection of 5 7/8" by 4 7/8" and 3" thick. The sides are compound construction, being tongued and grooved and glued, the exterior being reinforced with two-ply veneer placed in an alternate run of grain. Cross stretchers 1 3/4" thick by 9", bolted to 2" reinforcing blocks, making a rigid bridge work. End stretchers 1 3/4" thick by 5 1/2". Legs 9" square at bottom by 8" at top, capped by 3" block, bringing them flush with top of frame, to which they are secured by bolts and screws. They are built up in compound construction, tongued and grooved, doweled and reinforced by corner blocks, double cross veneered and rigidly built into end frame work of body. The wood construction is all the very best quality, cabinet made and put together in a most thorough manner. All joints made close and secure and all miters absolutely accurate. Joints tongued and grooved, strongly doweled and glued or screwed firmly together. All corners and edges made perfectly smooth and true.
